A letter from Roger!
This is what I am rebuilding right now. It's a Bean hit-n-miss engine, line shafted to a Bean high pressure pump. |
|
Although this specific one was used for ag, the same model was also used in the fire service.  By providing over 400 psi of water, less had to be carried.   This will be my Fire Unit #2 when done. |
Let me know about joining your Historical Society.....Anything I can do to promote Fire History I want to be involved in. |

My Latest Purchase
January 2003

As promised, I have sent a photo of "Ole Red". It is a 1924 American Lafrance Hose Car. The 6 cylinder engine produces 105 horsepower under the hood, running to the 3 speed transmission or the 500 GPM 2 speed fire pump. It fires every time on the 2nd turn of the crank, although it has an electric start with a dual ignition, which can be used to respond to "alarms". There are many original accesories including a 12' Pompeir ladder, hose clamps, and a array of nozzles. |
I am looking for spare engine parts, because I do have a crack somewhere in one of the three heads & am getting some water blow by. |
I hope you enjoy the picture. |
